Remarks Burton has been confirmed to have transferred off the boat for treatment at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 29 May 1941 (less than a month before her loss). He later went on to serve on numerous vessels, and was serving on USS Higbee (DD-806) as a Radio Technician, First Class, on 1 October 1945.
