Burton has been confirmed to have transferred off the
boat for treatment at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Philadelphia,

went on to
serve on numerous vessels, and was serving on USS Higbee
(DD-806) as a Radio Technician, First Class, on 1 October 1945. |
