SILVER STAR CITATION:

SYNOPSIS: Torpedoman Second Class Robert F. Case (NSN: 3858676), United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving as a member of the crew of the Submarine U.S.S. POMPANO (SS-181), during action against an armed enemy patrol ship on 4 September 1942. Torpedoman Second Class Case's gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
