Jim Christley, submariner, author, and artist.  His work has been a continued inspiration for this site and many others.  Jim's submarine-related website was Oldsubs Place (no longer online). His artwork can be seen at http://jim-christley.fineartamerica.com/ .

Darrell D. Ames, who conducted research and was largely responsible for the lost boats section on the former website of COMSUBPAC.

Bob Moore, who was Chairman of the Wall of Honor Executive Committee. Bob passed away in 2005.

Ric Hedman for his PigBoats.com website, and particularly for his extensive research on pre-WWII submarines.

He was honored for his research at the National Archives' Military Personnel Records Center in St. Louis.  Article on Veteran Researcher Paul Wittmer (external link).

Dr. William Bower, son of USS Albacore officer William Walter Bower, is now our primary contributor at the Military Personnel Records Center.

Acknowledgements

A number of people have been of great assistance in finding photos of individual lost submariners and in helping to contact the relatives of lost submariners and former crew members of lost submarines.  A special thanks goes out to Nancy Kenney and Karen Duvalle for their Lagarto research, and to Bryan MacKinnon and Paul Crozier for their dedicated work on Wahoo. Thanks to Bruce Abele, Vickie Rodgers, Rhonda Raye, and Mary Bentz for their work on obtaining Grunion material, and Jim Converse for Barbel, Albacore, and Shark (SS-174) photos and information.

Douglas E. Campbell provided Dorado material and has done a tremendous amount of research on friendly fire incidents involving U.S. submarines during World War II.

Thanks also to Everett Perry for much needed information on the men of the submarine tender USS Canopus (AS-9). Michael Mohl at NavSource.com has been a constant source of support. Thanks go to Steve Moore for his work on submariner POWs.  David Wright has been of great assistance in finding data for pre-World War II submarine losses.

Thanks go out to Rob Downie, who has proofread and added new information to the pages in our Submarines Lost in World War II section, and is currently working on unconfirmed submariner losses.

An extra special thanks goes out to Sharon (Scriven) Iwanick for her extensive genealogical research for Wahoo, Tang, Robalo, and Flier families.  Research on Flier and Tang families was also conducted by Mary Bentz, Vickie Rodgers, Mary Mihovich, and Norm Rutan, many of whom, along with Vicki Nelson, Jim Converse, and Clif Clark, carried out research on R-12 families. Vicki Nelson is also our primary researcher for the men of USS S-28, and Norm Rutan is working on the men of the submarine tender USS Canopus. Jim Baldwin and Vicki Nelson conducted research on the men of USS Scamp and Jim is now working on USS Seawolf, and Jonathan Bryan has worked on Pre-WWII submarine losses. Loretta Hill took the lead for research on the men of USS Pompano. Mary Mihovich and Mary Ann Richardson continue to submit photos and information on submariners of each era.

Please see our Researchers page for more information on these dedicated people.
