The following man, a civilian engineer, was lost during the rescue of the crew of USS Cochino (SS-345). 

USS Tusk (SS-426), who had come to the aid of the stricken Cochino, lost six men during the rescue.  They are listed on the Additional Losses - Post-WWII page.
