James' nephew, MM1(SS) Tony Allen served aboard USS Blueback (SS-581) from 1979–1982 and USS Ohio (SSBN-726) from 1982–1984, bridging the transition from diesel-electric heritage to Trident nuclear deterrence. Together, their stories embody the creed of the Silent Service: “Pride Runs Deep.” One gave the ultimate sacrifice, the other carried the torch forward. Both are forever part of the brotherhood of submariners. |
